This Doesn't Look Like Home

Youth Media Project

So I have finally entered the blogosphere. For so long I have questioned its relevance and did not want to get involved. That was until I met Twitter. I am a huge Twitter groupie, and part of my love for it is because it is the most poignant example of freedom of speech. Even the people of Iran found some democracy in this very 21st century medium.

I have met a number of people who feel about Twitter how I once felt about blogs. They just do not understand the hype.

The truth is, blogs are just like twitter. They allow you to open up your heart and bear witness to your experiences and thoughts, no matter what they are. However, with Twitter there is a 140 character limit. I am happy that is not the case with blogs. The purpose of this blog is to tell you about my encounters and experiences as a 5'6", light-skinned Black boy who has a deep love for words, pop culture and jazz. As of right now, Miles Davis' trumpet is filling the atmosphere of my room. This blog doesn't look like home, but it sure as heck feels like it. I will bring to you a 21-year-old, college student perspective of the world around me and how I interpret that, so … follow me!
