[verbatim] Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) received four 2008 Emmy Award nominations for its work in Between the Lions, Simply Science at the Fossil Road Show and Mississippi Roads. The Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production.
Rick Klein, Scott Colwell and Keri Horn received national Emmy nominations for their work in Between the Lions, a PBS Kids puppet show designed to promote reading. Between the Lions (BTL) is co-produced and filmed at MPB TV studios in Jackson, Miss. BTL airs weekdays at 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The show broadcasts on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. and Sundays at 10:30 a.m.
Producer Key Ivy received a regional Emmy nomination for Mississippi Roads, a show offering an insider's tour of the state's people, stories and places. "I am extremely pleased that Mississippi Roads is nominated for this prestigious award. I am very proud of the quality and content that the show delivers to Mississippians each week," said Key Ivy, MPB TV producer. The show airs on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 5:30 p.m.
Another regional Emmy nomination went to Rick Klein for Simply Science at the Fossil Road Show, a visit to the 5th Annual Fossil Road Show at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in Jackson as seen through the eyes of two young explorers. "The regional Emmy Awards is a very competitive contest. Working with the folks at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science during the production of Simply Science at the Fossil Road Show was great," said Rick Klein, MPB executive producer.
