Fondren shoppers have another place to indulge their sweet tooth. On Monday, Nov. 9, Highland Village confectioner Jon Lansdale opened a second location of his Crazy Cat Bakers in the Fondren Corner building. Crazy Cat is selling grab-and-go lunches and drinks, along with its renowned cakes, brownies and cookies, in the small 16 foot by 16 foot space that used to house Cosmo Tots children's boutique.
Lansdale explained the expansion with one word and a laugh: "Money."
"I just thought there was a market we could tap into," he added.
He plans to limit the new Fondren location to lunchtime hours through the holiday season before reevaluating. The expansion is a promising sign for Lansdale, who started Crazy Cat three years ago, after working in architecture. He hired one employee to run the Fondren shop, and the whole operation remains small.
"I am everything from the owner to the busboy," Lansdale said.
Grab your lunch and go at Crazy Cat, 2906 N. State St. in the Fondren Corner building from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 601-362-7787 for more info.
