What To Do This Weekend

The Jackson Roadmap to Health Equality's Fresh Farmers' Market opened in the Jackson Medical Mall last week.

Looks like we may have seen the last of the summer heat, and the rain may finally be clearing out. Saturday will be a great day to grab a sweater and finally get to the Mississippi State Fair if you haven't gone, yet. But tonight, kick off the weekend by taking in a movie with the Crossroads Film Society's Global Lens Series at the Mississippi Museum of Art. If you'd rather spend the evening where you can do the most good, head to the Jackson Convention Complex for the Mississippi Center for Justice annual "Champions of Justice" dinner at 6 p.m., or to Clinton for the annual Pink Ribbon Gala to benefit the American Cancer Society at 7 p.m. Find the details on the JFP Best Bets page.

Saturday, save your evening for the second annual Heather Spencer Soulshine Memorial Concert at Hal & Mal's starting at 7 p.m. The benefit features music and a silent auction, with the funds going to the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence. In the morning, head to the any of the local farmer's markets and stock up on Mississippi produce and other handcrafted goods for the upcoming week. Choose from the Mississippi Farmers Market, Greater Belhaven Market, Congress Street Market or the JHREP Farmers' Market near the Jackson Medical Mall. For an afternoon of fun, head to the Jackson Street Fall Festival in Ridgeland or go directly to the fair grounds. If none of those options make you happy, there are dozens more on the JFP Events Calendar, and boatloads of every kind of music imaginable on the JFP Music Listings page.

Impress your date or treat your other half to a night on the town this weekend, starting with dinner. You'll find all the best restaurants in town in the JFP Restaurant Listings and the Menu Guide will whet your appetite with the area's selections. And don't forget brunch on Sunday. There's the Auditorium, Julep and Pan Asia in Ridgeland, just to name a few. Head back to the JFP Events Calendar for plenty of additional happenings, or take in a movie after checking the
JFP Movie Finder.

Do you have your "I Get It Once A Week" T-shirt yet? You don't? Well, it's time to get yourself to the JFP Swag Store and get you one.

Is something missing? Make sure your event is listed on the JFP calendars by sending the information to [e-mail missing] or [e-mail missing], or add your event yourself. It's easy!
