I got dragged away this morning for an incredible cause. The Muscular Dystrophy Association is linked inextricably to comedian Jerry Lewis and hours-long telethons, but this morning they're known for pulling me into a room and asking me to shakedown all my friends (and a few enemies) for money benefiting kids who suffer from a rather nasty disease. There are probably ethical issues involved with reporters begging money from judges and political figures, but I'm willing to take a chance on this one. It's a worthy cause.
Whoa, Public Service Commissioner Lynn Posey just committed $50. Way to go, big guy. Bless ya.
About 250,000 Americans suffer at least from some form of the neuromuscular diseases. It comes in a wide variety of progressions, from minor inconveniences to major, outright disabilities. It's always humbling to visit the muscular dystrophy clinic at UMMC. Faces both young and old are nothing but grateful for the assistance. But that assistance is costly when you take into consideration the need for wheelchairs, braces and the varied medications necessary to treat neurological diseases of this caliber.
Oooo, Sen. John Horhn just blessed us with another donation. Good on ya, matey.
MDA operates health-care clinics and summer camps all over the country, provides research funding and publishes educational materials on dealing with the disease. According to its Web site it also helps finance more than 200 hospital-affiliated clinics like the one at UMMC, and plunks down money for about 400 different global research projects.
Keep the cause going, ladies and gents. Muscular dystrophy is a rotten disease, and needs all the enemies it can earn. Please donate. If you want to personally help me out and give the MDA a boost, please visit my page on the MDA Website.
Oh, for Pete's sake: WAPT anchor Brad McMullan has already reached his goal. That guy has way more friends than me. Smarmy jerk.

Same page. It cost $200 to keep him in, $100 to get him out. Do the right thing. ;-)

Oh, now if I were made of Money (which I'm most certainly not), I'd just consider it money well spent. :)

Yeah, I can think of a few people who might pay to keep him in. The mark of a good reporter. ;-)
