This National Night out against crime should start with the City of Jackson employee's first. The Mayor cannot not address the issue of Crime when he allows City of Jackson employee's who have been charged with crimes to be employed by the City of Jackson. What example is this setting for our youth? What does this shows the criminals? Currently employed with the City of Jackson are several employees that have violated the law and admitted to their illegal acts. Domestic Violence on women, assault, solicitation, theft and drugs. Why is the Mayor allowing these people to hold position of trust when they have records such as the one's I have mention. You'll stop crime when you let the public know that their tax dollars are going to be paid to employees that abide by the law. Why do the City of Jackson allow employees who conduct has resulted in illegal activities in lawsuits against the City of Jackson? Does it make sense that taxpayers dollars are being spent to cover the cost of these employees illegal activity? What happen to honor, integrity and the positive image of the City of Jackson. Mayor please rid the City of Jackson of these questionable City employee's and let's start rebuilding our City with a new motto; "No Criminals Allowed as City of Jackson Employees."

Chef Tony, where was your protest movement when melton had his "night out"? I mean his four (4) years OUT???? You are accusing this Mayor of not ridding the city of criminals who continue to work for the City. There is a difference between a person being "CHARGED" with a crime and one who has been "CONVICTED". Who is the person or who are the people hired/appointed by this mayor who have been convicted of a felony or other charges that render them unacceptable for employment? We should be governed by laws and not by personal beliefs about our personal choices for hire. This is a wide brush and an unfair directive. The employees are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Also, you can not just take a job from a person who is not "Will & Pleasure" but, protected throught policies and proceedures governing civil service. Your directives to this Mayor comes directly out of the thoughts and behaviors of Jim Crow. We've come too far to turn back the clock to one man dictating who can work and who can not. Take a deep breath! Now, ask what you can do in your community to make tonight's National Night Out (celebration of neighborhoods) a success for Jackson. There is always room to criticize: There should also be room for praise.
