Yesterday, the Mississippi House approved $300 million in bonds for infrastructure improvements in the state. Among the projects is $42 million for a new highway from Pontotoc to Sherman, site of the as-yet completed Blue Springs Toyota plant, reports The Commercial Appeal.
"It was a commitment we made to Toyota," Rep. Warner F. McBride, D-Courtland and chairman of the Transportation Committee told The Commerical Appeal, adding "We want them to know we're still committed to them coming to Mississippi."
Toyota stopped work on the plant in 2008, promising to return when the economy turned around, but the company has not made firm commitments to completion of the project.
