Salvation Army providing free showers: The Jackson Metro Salvation Army Provides Showers For Local Residents Lacking Water Resources. The Salvation Army will open up the Disaster Shower Unit, at 28-foot trailer outfitted with six shower stalls, to the public on a first come first serve basis to help ease the water crisis here in Jackson. The shower unit is located at 110 Presto Lane at The Center of Hope. “This is what we do”, stated Captain Ken Chapman. “This is a disaster, a crisis in our community and our services are readily available for those in need.” The Disaster Shower Unit will be open for use between 7PM and 10PM tonight only. “We will asses the situation daily to decide whether we need to keep the Unit open for multiple days” sated Chapman. Since the weather dropped to near freezing in the last 15 days, The Salvation Army has been out in the Community feeding the homeless and needy at the temporary shelter set up by the Office of the Mayor and out on the Disaster Canteen. Since the water crisis hit Jackson five days ago, The Salvation Army has not been able to provide showers to its over 120 residents of the shelter at The Center of Hope. “Although this is only a temporary solution, we will continue to serve the residents of our shelter, and those in the Community needing assistance to the best of our ability”, stated Chapman. During this time, resources are running low and The Salvation Army is in need of bottled water and monetary donations to help meet the increase in demand for services. For more information or to donate contact The Salvation Army at 601-982-4881. The Salvation Army would like to thank the citizens of the Metro Jackson area for their unwavering support throughout the years. With the generous contributions of time, money and resources received from the members of our communities, The Salvation Army continues to Do The Most Good by serving those in need, in His name, without discrimination, 365 days a year. To donate to The Salvation Army, please call 1-800-SAL-ARMY or log on to www.salvationarmyjackson.org. # # #

Grady Griffin's dishwasher answer: You can use a dishwasher IF it has sufficient pressure to remove debris, and only IF the sanitizing cycle is checked with test strips frequently and one keeps those strips in a log. How much is frequently depends on volume, but at least once an hour. If a dishmachine has no sanitizing cycle, despite high temp rinse, a dedicated sink full of low-temp sanitizing solution can be used with boiled, but cooled, water. Submerge washed wares based on sanitizing chemical: follow directions on your chemical container.
