And I'm not the only one. Ronni is here, Ward is here; Lacey and Adam just left. We are in the middle of our huge annual issue to celebrate all that is great about our city. Someone just *now* dropped fruit and M&Ms. Mark Scurlock showed up earlier with pastries. It's as if so many of y'all are cheering us on as we sort through thousands, no millions, of little Best-of blurbs, trying to get the damn commas right!
But here is the point of this point. Lacey just forwarded me an e-mail from one of our fall interns that really touched me, considering how badly I was dying to leave Mississippi when I was her age. And it is a tribute as much, or more, to all of you working hard out in the community as it was to her experience here. It read in part:
"I really respect what the JFP does and how this 'family' collectively carries ideals that have changed the way I now look at things. This sounds cheesy, but I've been indirectly inspired to help this community more. I developed some cynicism before I started interning and it wasn't even until a couple weeks ago that I realized so many people that you guys (featured) actually care about what they are doing and they have a vision they think will work. It's not just bullshit, and this really makes me hopeful."
Cheers, Jackson. And thank you for everything, including the M&Ms and the donuts! ;-)

I don't know the date or year this article was written; however, it needs to be framed because these are facts that continue to grow with the JFP. Each Weekly gets even better.
