Each night before I go to bed, I have lofty goals for the next morning. I set my alarm for 5:30 and I envision jumping out of bed and heading to the gym. But more often than not, I end up hitting the snooze button for another two hours, because I love to sleep. So, I'm looking for a wake up call. I need someone to get me out of bed. If you have recommendations on how to find a wake up call at 5:30 a.m, please let me know.

Go to sleep earlier. Also, make a smoothie the night before to drink before you go to the gym. I usually put either coffee grounds or part of a Red Bull in mine. The most important part is developing the mindset that you don't have a choice. You wouldn't hit the snooze button and miss work, so don't do it for the gym. After a while, it will become habit. If you make it to the gym three times a week, you're doing pretty good. [c]

I think the problem is that I get too much sleep. I'm in bed most nights by 10:30 p.m. Thanks C Myers!

Too much sleep? Yeah, I think sleeping is addictive. It seems to effect me that way. Both of us need to get in "got to get moving" mode. Any big change hurts for a few days but then it's downhill.

Do you have a workout partner? Me, I like to work out alone, but I do it in the afternoon or evening. Having a partner that will commit to working out with you makes you more accountable. It probably won't make it any easier to get up in the mornings, but you might feel a twinge of guilt at letting the other person down.

It's primarily because youre trying to go from waking up at 8 or 8:30, and then rushing to work, to waking up at 5:30. Make the progression in little steps over the course of a few weeks and your body wont be pissed off when you try to jolt it from rest. Otherwise youll just end up being a morning monster like your sister...
