at Vicksburg Convention Center (1600 Mulberry St., Vicksburg). The Vicksburg Convention Center and Auditorium will be distributing teddy bears to the Vicksburg Police and Fire Departments. The distribution is part of the "Make a Difference in Your Community" project. The bears help console children who are victims of car wrecks, fires and other traumatic events. NAMI Mississippi (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is offering the 12-week course to family members of adults with serious mental illnesses such as major depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety and panic disorders, and others. FORMCities Call for Design Proposals
, at Jackson Community Design Center (509 E. Capitol St.). Mississippi State University's Jackson Community Design Center (JCDC) will host a design competition and symposium focused on the inherent challenges and immense potential for socioeconomic and environmental reconciliation by addressing barriers created by an urban divide. FORMCities calls for design proposals to address the negative impacts of urban forms and transportation thoroughfares that have created visual, physical and psychological barriers along the lines of race, income and class. Student and professional teams may enter. The registration deadline is Sept. 15, and entries are due by Oct. 30. Amnesty Days
