Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the U.S. Civil War, Millsaps College hosts "Abraham Lincoln and Benito Juarez," during its second annual Latin American Studies Symposium today.
The symposium begins at 12:30 p.m. at the college's Ford Academic Complex (1701 N. State Street) and explores the similarities between Abraham Lincoln and his Mexican contemporary, Benito Juarez. The symposium features University of Alabama professor Dr. Howard Jones, author of "Munity on the Amistad, Union in Peril," and Silvestre Villegas, author of "Deuda y Diplomacia: La relacion Mexico-Gran Bretana."
