Aspiring home owners can turn their dreams into reality with help from the City of Jackson. The city's Office of Housing and Community Development is accepting applications for its Homebuyer Assistance Program.
The Homebuyer Assistance Program offers citizens up to $15,000 to be used as a down payment, closing costs or other associated costs towards the purchase of a home in Jackson. The assistance amount is based on the applicant's annual household income. The final award amount ranges from $10,000 to $15,000. Certain participating lenders may offer additional assistance up to $7,000.
Applicants must earn less than the maximum income limit adjusted according to the family's size. The interested individual must also attend and complete an approved homeownership training program. The property must pass a home inspection by a certified home inspector. The property purchased must also be used as a primary residence. The applicant must be a first-time home buyer or not have owned a home in the past three (3) years. Lender prequalification is subject to approval by the City of Jackson.
The Homebuyer Assistance Program was established in January 2004 and is funded by the HOME Investment Partnerships Program and American Dream Downpayment Initiative (ADDI). For more information or to apply for this program, call Kimberly Stamps at 601-960-2155.
