Jim Hill High School student Tommy Wheaton died last night from injuries sustained from a hit-and-run driver.
WLBT reported this morning that Wheaton was on his bicycle in friends' yard on Archer Avenue when a white Cadillac struck him. He was thrown 100 feet from the point of impact.
Jackson Police Department Spokeswoman Colendula Green was not immediately available for comment.

Someone, somewhere, somebody, somehow saw/heard, know something about this kid's death. How did a Cadillac car run over him in a "friend's yard"? Where was he going or where was he coming from? Where was the friend?

100 feet from point of impact?! Is there anyone here at JFP that has enough familiarity with vehicle accidents to give a ballpark/back of the envelope on how that could have happened? All I come up with is a monstrous speed by the striking vehicle and my mind recoils at it.

I just got through to Officer Green. She said Wheaton was thrown 80 ft from the point of impact not 100 as WLBT reported. She had no other new information to share.
