Flappers might seen doing the Charleston at the Roaring '20s-themed gala at the Mississippi Children's Museum (2145 Highland Drive). The museum hosts the annual Ignite the Night Gala Saturday, Feb. 11. The event is for adults only and allows attendees to get in touch with their inner children and explore the museum and all its fun exhibits after normal hours.
"This is the second year the event has taken place," Kelly Joyner, party chair for Ignite the Night, said.
"Last year's party was phenomenal; everyone enjoyed just getting a chance to be a kid again and play."
Each gallery in the museum will feature themed food, cocktails, and interactive exhibits and activities. The museum promises an appearance by a surprise musical entertainer at midnight.
Admission to the event is $100. All proceeds fund key programs and operations for the museum, which receives only 26 percent of its total operating budget from regular admissions. The doors open for attendees at 6:30 p.m., and the event itself begins at 7:30 p.m. For information, call 601-981-5469 or 877-793-KIDS.
