Baptist Medical Center is the only hospital in Mississippi to receive accreditation for its breast health center.

Baptist Medical Center's Breast Health Center earned a three-year accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers last week.

Baptist is the only hospital in Mississippi to receive the accreditation.

The center received the accreditation after demonstrating compliance with standards for treating women with breast disease. The standards include proficiency in the areas of: center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.

"I truly want to commend the physicians and clinicians for achieving this great honor. It proves to Mississippi our team is working hard to ensure patients receive the greatest range of options for treating their breast disease," Dr. Eric McVey, Baptist chief medical officer, said in a statement. "This accreditation validates the expertise, dedication, and commitment we extend to the state in delivering comprehensive breast healthcare."
