Personhood is the race to watch tonight, with supporters at a "watch and pray" event hosted by Yes on 26 saying it's too close to call.
Rob Chambers with the Christian Action Commission (the political arm of the Mississippi Baptist Convention) says he's glad we don't live in a theocracy, because it gives people a chance to choose for themselves on this issue. He's guessing Personhood will pass, but narrowly.
The quote of the night so far comes from a youth pastor from Wisconsin, who says 40 years of trying to effect incremental anti-abortion change is like "pissing into the wind." (If only everyone with political campaigns was that straightforward.) His youth group is on their way back from a mission trip to Florida and decided to stop by the event.
Anti-abortion activist Roy McMillan is here with a rather flamboyant copper-colored cowboy hat.
Initial results are leaning against the initiative, but one of the campaign's leaders says it's early yet, and the counties that are reporting so far weren't their strongest supporters anyway.
