The Mississippi Department of Employment will release a study on the state's green job economy this week at its green job conferences.

The study is funded through the U.S. Department of Labor and predicts that green jobs in Mississippi will increase by 18.5 percent over the next 10 years.

"This study gives us the first in-depth look at Mississippi's green economy," Labor Market Information Director Mary Willoughby said in a statement. "Conference attendees will learn about green jobs already created and their projected growth."

During the conference, attendees will learn how alternative-energy business activities are shaping the economy and how emerging green industries will affect the state's job economy.

The conferences are Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Mississippi e-Center at Jackson State University (1230 Raymond Road) from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and Friday, Sept. 30 at the Biloxi Civic Center (950 Howard Ave.)

To register for either conference, visit the Mississippi Department of Employment Security at mdes.ms.gov.
