JACKSON More than 100 business and civic leaders from the Mississippi Gulf Coast will advise Gov. Phil Bryant on how to spend funds to help with oil-spill recovery efforts.
Bryant today announced the formation of the board known as GoCoast 2020 on Wednesday. Established through a gubernatorial executive order, the advisory committee will assist with the allocation of the the federal RESTORE Act, which Congress recently passed.
The group will focus on eco-restoration, economic development, small businesses, seafood, tourism, education infrastructure and workforce development.
“While we don’t know exactly when the money will come, when the time comes we will be prepared to use these resources in the best interest of the Gulf Coast," Bryant said.
