JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — The 31st Agribusiness Development Team will conduct a sendoff ceremony on Thursday for 40 soldiers mobilizing for a one-year deployment to Afghanistan.
The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. at the Hinds County Extension Service building in south Jackson.
Following the ceremony, the unit will travel to Camp Atterbury, Ind., to complete its training required for deployment.
The 31st ADT will work to improve current Afghan farming practices by introducing advanced farming techniques already in practice in the United States. They will also provide advice and training to local farmers.
