Jackson Public Schools finally has a new superintendent. Dr. Cedrick Gray signed a contract this morning to take over as superintendent effective July 1.
The three-year contract says that Gray will receive $200,000 per year as superintendent, in addition to an automobile allowance, moving expenses, insurance and other allowances.
The contract also requires Gray to submit annual goals and progress reports to the board, in addition to sitting for a performance evaluation twice each year.
Some preliminary goals are attached to the contract, including increasing the average ACT score to 20, increasing the graduation rate to 80 percent in each school and having 95 percent of the schools in the district rated Successful or above by 2015.
