JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — It's a new convenience for anyone in Hinds County who has to deal with the court system.
Dockets and orders for circuit court and county civil court can now be viewed online.
Hinds Circuit Clerk Barbara Dunn told The Clarion-Ledger (http://on.thec-l.com/VWlxcK ) the public can view the records for free.
The online view doesn't provide the entire court file. However, it shows what has been filed in a particular case. And any order entered by a judge can be viewed.
Online access eventually will lead to Hinds County being part of the Mississippi Electronic Courts system, which is based on a federal program called PACER. It will allow attorneys to file pleadings and retrieve documents by way of the Internet.
