Bottle Tree Beverage Co., the Madison-based distillery that brought Cathead vodkas to the marketplace, has released a new chicory liqueur under the brand name Hoodoo.

"We try to do unique products that are true to the South," Candace Rodriguez, Bottle Tree's Louisiana representative, told nola.com.

Hoodoo is the first and only 100 percent chicory liqueur produced, the company says. Its flavor "combines notes of roasted chicory, oak and caramel for a savory finish."

Bottle Tree says the liqueur can be sipped over ice, added to cocktails where you might use a coffee-flavored liqueur or added to a hot coffee beverage for a little kick.

Jackson artist Justin Schultz designed the Hoodoo bottles and promotional materials.
