Airman Accused of Luring Child for Sex

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) — Jackson County authorities have arrested a master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and charged him with two sex-related crimes against a child.

Sheriff Mike Byrd tells The Mississippi Press (http://bit.ly/RdSPyb ) 47-year-old John Robert Long, of St. Martin, is charged with one count of computer luring a child for sexual purposes and one count of disseminating sexually oriented material to a child.

Authorities say Long is based at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi.

Byrd said the charges stem from an investigation that showed Long contacted a child under the age of 18 on a social networking website.

Long's bail was set at $25,000 on the luring charge and $10,000 on the dissemination charge.

It was unclear whether Long has an attorney.
