JACKSON The state's coffers are getting a $35 million bump.
Monday afternoon, Attorney General Jim Hood said he returned $35 million his office recovered from the Average Wholesale Price (AWP) litigation, including more than $12 million from a settlement with Barr Laboratories, Inc., IVAX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. , Sicor Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Teva Pharmaceuticals.
In addition, $5.9 million came from Alpharma USPD and Purepac Pharmaceutical Co., Par Pharmaceutical Companies Inc. and Par Pharmaceutical Inc.
Another $840,000 was part of a consumer settlement with Abbott Laboratories involving allegations of unfair and deceptive practices in the promotion and sale of the drug Depakote, Hood's office said.
