CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) — Delta State University will provide a location on its campus to the Cleveland Music Foundation for the Mississippi Grammy Museum.
The museum, styled after Los Angeles' Grammy Museum, would use interactive exhibits to commemorate Mississippi's musical heritage and attract tourists to the Delta region.
DSU President John M. Hilpert and Lucy Janoush, president of the Cleveland Music Foundation, recently signed the 99-year lease. The museum site is on four acres located on the south end of the Delta State golf course along Mississippi Highway 8.
Groundbreaking is tentatively set for late February.
As part of the agreement, the Cleveland Music Foundation will provide the funding and resources for the reconstruction of the golf course so that it remains a nine-hole facility.
