Ex-lawmaker Wilkerson dies at 68

DALEVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Former State Rep. Jerry E. Wilkerson, who served three terms in the Mississippi House and was a spokesman for the propane, petroleum and convenience store associations for 25 years, has died at the age of 68.

Officials with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home say Wilkerson died at his home in Daleville on Wednesday. The cause of death was not released.

Services were being held Friday at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Daleville Community Cemetery.

Wilkerson served as executive director of Petroleum Marketers Association, the Convenience Store Association and the Propane Gas Association for 25 years. He was a former teacher and headmaster for Whynot and Kemper Academy. He was a farmer and cattleman.

Survivors include two children, two step-children, four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
