DOR Adds New Filing Services
Starting Oct. 7, Mississippi businesses that file sales and use taxes in Mississippi will file through the Department of Revenue's new online filing system, accessed through the Taxpayer Access Point. Taxpayers that file withholding or corporate tax already use this system, and most taxes administered by the DOR will be included in the system after Oct. 7, allowing taxpayers to manage all of their tax accounts in one place.
TAP is free to use and includes the ability for the DOR to send taxpayers a courtesy email to remind them if they miss a return due date, allowing taxpayers to minimize late filing penalties and avoid assessments. Taxpayers can also file and amend returns; make electronic payments of returns and assessments; view tax account activity; apply for permits and make address changes, among other services.
The DOR has released multiple videos containing step-by-step instructions to assist taxpayers with the transition to the new system, which are available on the agency's website. The DOR has also sent notices to business taxpayers advising of upcoming changes.
To access TAP, visit the DOR's website and click on the TAP icon.
