JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi's state treasurer has again opened an office at the State Fair.
New this year, attendants will not only have a chance to search for unclaimed property, but will also be able to learn more about the state's two college savings plans — Mississippi Affordable College Savings Plan and the Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Savings Plan — and the Treasurer's Education About Money initiative when they stop by the booth.
State Treasurer Lynn Fitch, in a news release Wednesday, said last year they returned $457,000 in unclaimed property to residents, including $132,000 to one family.
The fair runs through Oct. 18.
