JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Two men have been arrested after police say they dragged an officer with their car.
Local media outlets report Jackson Police Department spokeswoman Colendula Green says authorities received a call Monday morning about two men sitting in a vehicle.
Green says when the officer arrived, she walked up to the car and tapped one of the men on the shoulder.
That's when Green says the driver reversed the car and drove off, dragging the officer 20 to 30 feet.
The unnamed officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Green said the driver, 27-year-old Oriente Taylor, faces multiple charges including of aggravated assault on a police officer.
His passenger, 25-year-old Javorski Blackmon, has been charged with public drunkenness.
It isn't clear if the men have attorneys.
