2 MDOC Officers Arrested for Having Contraband at Prisons

PARCHMAN, Miss. (AP) — Two Mississippi Department of Corrections officers have been arrested after officials say they had contraband at the prisons where they worked.

MDOC officials said in a news release that 23-year-old Martonius Jones was arrested Monday at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman after officers found alcohol in Dasani water bottles. They also found some marijuana.

Jones is charged with introduction of a controlled substance into a correctional facility and introduction of alcohol into a correctional facility.

Officials say 32-year-old Darrel Wilder was arrested Tuesday at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Pearl after authorities found a plastic bag of tobacco under his vehicle during a random search.

Wilder is charged with possession of prohibited items by persons other than offenders.

It isn't immediately clear whether Jones or Wilder has an attorney.
