STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi State beat Louisiana Tech 4-0 to win the NCAA Tournament's Starkville Regional title on Sunday night.
Zac Houston and Ryan Rigby combined to throw a two-hit shutout to lead the Bulldogs to the Super Regional round. Houston gave up two hits over six innings while Rigby escaped a bases-loaded jam in the seventh and closed the game with three hitless innings.
Jacob Robson led Mississippi State (44-16-1) with three hits. Mississippi State won three games in three days to cruise through the Starkville Regional.
Louisiana Tech (42-20) was hurt by three errors. Braden Bristo took the loss on the mound, giving up three runs — two earned — over 2 2/3 innings.
The beginning of the game was delayed more than two hours by rain.
