Republican U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith appeared at the Neshoba County Fair in Philadelphia, Miss., on Aug. 2, 2018, where she campaigned to keep her U.S. Senate seat. On Sept. 18, she criticized her Republican challenger, Mississippi State Sen. Chris McDaniel, for disparaging comments about black Mississippians and women.
