[Jacktown] Rumors And Releases

What's up, Jackson? I have been out grinding, hitting the pavement and making some power moves, as your favorite rapper's favorite rapper would say. I want to start this column by talking a little bit about these celebrity rapper sex tapes floating around—and I'm not talking Snoop's and Lil' Jon's legal exploits.

On the heels of Eve being caught on tape with an old flame, rumors of another artist's personal business have been making their way around. The tape in question, of course, features Jay Z and Beyoncé. The two were supposedly taped without their knowledge at a recent hotel stay, but the incident was quickly quashed through legal measures.

In local music, Smack-A-Batch has a new album out that is fire hot. DJ Ra Ra is preparing a series of mixtapes for you fans of that real gutter music. One of the most anticipated mixtapes in recent memory is the latest installment in the "Southern Explosion," hosted by Chingo Bling. If you don't know who Chingo is, he is one of the most influential new Latino cats in Southern hip-hop. His single, the hilarious "Walk Like Cleto," is an underplayed masterpiece making its way around the underground circuit.

Another mixtape a little closer to home is Ambassador's Way Entertainment's "Street Assault: Volume One." The project is a really hot compilation showing various sides of the A.W.E. family over popular beats, as well all new material.

Smoke D has a new single featuring David Banner entitled "Shake It." While I am mentioning Banner, you may not know that his video for his latest single "Play" was banned from BET for being too racy. Looking at everything else over there, you call that racy? Politics being politics, the video was actually reinstated. By the way, BET, where are Free and AJ?

Reese and Bigalow are supposedly back together and recording an as-yet-untitled new project. Goodie Mob recently came to town to host a concert, and the group is reportedly close to signing a major label deal for a full Goodie Mob reunion. This includes embattled former member Cee Lo (Closet Freak) Green.

Mello T has a new single featuring Reese of Reese and Bigalow fame, which finds Reese taking a subliminal shot at a notable Jackson political figure. Who exactly, you may ask? I try to stay out of political matters—everyone knows how much I hate politics.
